One of the liveliest of the preludes, this is a brief, fast complicated passage, with syncopated cascades of sounds. There is an awful lot of tension and uncertainty created right from the start which comes to a resolution with great relief at the end. But, to me, the piece is not as emotionally “loaded” as many of the other Preludes, rather it is quite witty (as Chopin was known to be) and the clean and tidy ending to all this nervous excitement makes it all the more playful. Short but fun!
