“De Profundis”…. A bold, powerful expression of emotion painted during the lockdowns of 2020/21.
I started off with an entirely different intention for this painting but it just wasn’t having any of it. A battle of wills ensued which is why this took nearly a year to finish! It wasn’t until I surrendered to it, and allowed it to become what it needed to be, that it was ready for a resolution.
“De Profundis” (meaning “out of the depths”, and according to the dictionary: a heartfelt cry of appeal expressing deep feelings of sorrow or anguish) expresses everything I needed to say about the pandemic experience.
